Be Not Afraid

A prenatal diagnosis support program of Life Choices Medical Clinic

When a family in your community receives a difficult prenatal diagnosis, the news can be devastating—leaving parents overwhelmed, frightened, and unsure where to turn. Be Not Afraid exists for exactly that moment.

This compassionate program of Life Choices Medical Clinic walks alongside parents from the moment of diagnosis through the first year of their child’s life. When you encounter a family facing this kind of news—whether they are processing a Down syndrome diagnosis, a heart condition, or any unexpected finding – Be Not Afraid is the resource to put in their hands.

Our desire is to provide steady, trustworthy support from the moment of diagnosis, offering clarity, compassion, and care as families discern the path forward. No pressure. No agenda. Just presence.

What the Program Provides

Every family’s situation is unique, and our support meets them where they are.

  • Emotional Support — Compassionate counseling to help parents process fear, grief, and uncertainty in a safe, nonjudgmental space.
  • Medical Guidance — Support from a registered nurse, help understanding the diagnosis, connecting with specialists, and navigating the medical system with confidence.
  • Practical Assistance — Material support, resource referrals, and help planning for the baby’s arrival—whatever the family needs.
  • Faith-Based Care and Community — Prayer support, spiritual encouragement, and introductions to families who have walked a similar path and local organizations ready to help.

How the Program Works

From first contact to one year after birth, we are beside every family we serve.

  1. A family reaches out — By phone, text, or online form. No commitment required—just a conversation.
  2. First appointment — We listen to their story, answer questions, and explain what Be Not Afraid can offer. No pressure, no judgment—only care.
  3. Ongoing support through pregnancy — Regular check-ins, help navigating specialist appointments, emotional support, and practical assistance.
  4. Support at birth — We advocate for the family in the birth setting and coordinate with their medical team.
  5. Postpartum care through one year — The journey doesn’t end at delivery. We walk with families through the first year of their child’s life.

When to Refer
